The phone has round edeges and flat profile. Its display is the brightest on an A-series ever. The phone is 35% brighter than Pixel 8a. Google Pixel 9a will be available in Peony, Iris, Porcelain and Obsidian colour options.

Pixel 9a has an upgraded dual rear camera system, which includes a 13 MP ultra-wide camer and a 48 MP main camera. Google Pixel 9a also boasts of being the first A-series phone with Macro Focus. Pixel 9a comes with AI-powered photography features, such as: Add Me, Best Take and Magic Editor.

The phone has a battery life of over 30 hours, which can be extended to over 100 hours with extreme battery saver. If compared to all the Pixel phones, Pixel 9a has the best battery life. Google has stated that it is the most durable A-series phone yet.

4. Tensor G4 chip

Pixel 9a is powered by Google’s fastest and most efficiency chip yet, which is the Google Tensor G4 chip. The processor is the same that is found in Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold that were launched in August 2024.

Google’s Tensor chip, developed with DeepMind, powers AI and machine learning on Pixel devices. First introduced in Pixel 6 (2021) after being conceptualized in 2016, it optimizes AI models for mobile use. This enables features like instant translations and audio summaries while maintaining battery efficiency.

Tensor G4 enhances computational photography and image processing, enabling better photos and videos. It also improves call quality, aids in recalling key details, speeds up communication, and ensures data security.

Google Pixel 9a has been priced at ₹49,999 in India. In comparison, Apple’s iPhone 16e is priced higher at ₹59,900.

8. Availability

Google Pixel 9a will be available for purchase in India from April. It will go on sole via its retail partners. An exact date of its availability has not been announced yet.
