Netflix’s breakout hit Wednesday is creeping back for a second season, and it promises to be even darker, weirder, and more wickedly delightful than before. As Wednesday Addams sharpens her wit (and maybe her knives), fans can expect fresh mysteries, new faces, and a deeper dive into the twisted world of Nevermore Academy. Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming season:

1. WHERE WE LEFT…

Wednesday Season 1 ended with the arrest of murderous shapeshifter Tyler Galpin and the defeat of Laurel Gates- the mastermind behind a series of murders near Nevermore Academy.

As the semester ends, protagonist Wednesday Addams begins receiving threatening messages and creepy photos from an anonymous stalker. This suggests that the dangers are far from over. Further, it sets the stage for potential new challenges in the upcoming season.

Moreover, in the final scene, Tyler starts to transform into his Hyde form while in custody. This suggests he’s still dangerous and may appear again to create havoc.

It is possible that Season 2 may pick up on these threads.

2. FIRST EPISODE

Here We Woe Again is the title of the first episode of the upcoming season. It is written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and directed by ‘gothic king’ Tim Burton.

Netflix has already revealed the first 6 minutes of the 1st episode, where Wednesday is seen mastering her psychic powers during the summer vacation and apprehending a serial killer.

3. ROMANCE???

Xavier Thrope, who was one of Wednesday’s romantic interests in Season 1, will not feature in Season 2. Xavier was a psychic student at Nevermore Academy. His character was played by Canadian actor Percy Hynes White. Notably, Xavier’s character has been dropped from Season 2 after multiple accusations of sexual assault against Percy. The actor has denied the claims.

Further, another romantic interest of Wednesday (Tyler Galpin) turned out to be the bad guy. Hence, both the romantic threads from Season 1 are unlikely to carry on in the 2nd season.

Actress Jenna Ortega, who plays the role of Wednesday, has stated that the new season will be horror-inspired and will focus less on romance.

4. TYLER IS BACK?

If you are interested in seeing Tyler Galpin again, you are in luck! The monster who, by his sweetness, fooled the audience and Wednesday in the first season will be back!

A glimpse of the antagonist in the upcoming season has already been revealed.

Wednesday is shown visiting her nemesis, who is also her ex-boyfriend, in the prison where he is caged after wrecking havoc in Nevermore Academy.

5. LADY GAGA & OTHER CAST PLAYERS

Lady Gaga will honour the show by playing the role of a “legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday”. Netflix has revealed that her character, Rosaline Rotwood, will appear in the second half of Season 2.

Among the new cast members are Christopher Lloyd, who will be among the guest stars. Notably, Lloyd played Uncle Fester in 1991 movie The Addams Family.

6. NEW ADDAMS IN THE HOUSE?

Yes, it has officially been confirmed that the new season will introduce a new member of the Addams family.

“Whenever there’s murder and mayhem, you will always find an Addams,” Wednesday says in the teaser.

It appears that the season will focus more on the secrets of the family. Wednesday’s mother, Morticia Addams, says in the teaser, “Every family has dark secrets…And secrets can have deadly consequences.”

7. SNEAK PEEKS

As per an official announcement, “more misery is coming” for Wednesday Addams. Netflix unveiled a behind-the-scenes sneak peek, in which Morticia Addams says, “This season is going to be bigger and more twisted than you can ever imagine.”

Wednesday herself also makes an appearance, holding a knife and saying, “Let’s play dolls.”

Lots of spooky dolls are scattered all over the teaser.

8. SHOOTING LOCATION

The filming location for Season 2 is Ireland. While Season 1 was shot in Romania, the 2nd season moved production to Ireland due to “logistical challenges” in Romania. Specifically, filming took place in County Wicklow, Ireland.

Creators Al Gough and Miles Millar called the location “truly magical”. “It adds a sense of timeless beauty, wonder, and epic spectacle to the world of Wednesday,” they stated.

9. RELEASE DATE

The first episode will be released on August 6, followed by the second episode on September 3. The filming was wrapped in December 2024. Like the first season, the upcoming episodes will be available to binge on Netflix. TUDUM!

10. WHAT’S NEXT?

Netflix has confirmed that there will be a Season 3 of Wednesday.

Moreover, filming for Season 3 will begin as soon as November 2025.

In an interview with Variety, Jenna Ortega teased Season 3, saying, “I know [how] the writers are…with a show like that, you kind of want to get ahead of the game.”
